I LOVE FLOGGING MOLLY

"Devil's Dance Floor"
Her breath began to speak
As she stood right in front of me
The colour of her eyes
Were the colour of insanity
Crushed beneath her wave
Like a ship, I could not reach her shore
We're all just dancers on the Devil's Dance Floor

Well swing a little more, little more o'er the merry-o
Swing a little more, a little more next to me
Swing a little more, little more o'er the merry-o
Swing a little more, on the Devil's Dance Floor

Pressed against her face
I could feel her insecurity
Her mother'd been a drunk
And her father was obscurity
But nothin' ever came
From a life that was a simple one
So pull yourself together girl
And have a little fun

Well she took me by the hand
I could see she was a fiery one
Her legs ran all the way
Up to heaven and past Avalon
Tell me somethin' girl, what it is you have in store
She said come with me now
On the Devil's Dance Floor

Well swing a little more, little more o'er the merry-o
Swing a little more, a little more next to me
Swing a little more, little more o'er the merry-o
Swing a little more, on the Devil's Dance Floor

The apple now is sweet
Oh much sweeter than it ought to be
Another little bite
I don't think there is much hope for me
The sweat beneath her brow
Travels all the way
An' headin' south
This bleedin' heart's cryin'
Cause there's no way out

Well swing a little more, little more o'er the merry-o
Swing a little more, a little more next to me
Swing a little more, little more o'er the merry-o
Swing a little more, on the Devil's Dance Floor

WARPED TOUR 2004

Before I talk about Warped Tour I'm going to rewind a couple days....Last Thursday- Saturday I worked in the Ladies Club Championship, and caddied for Mrs. Glissman (who I just LOVE- we had a jolly good time), then I worked Friday and Saturday nights at the restaurant. So I was surprised I had any energy left for the concert. Cait and I went to Panera in the morning, then drove over to Shannon's. We left around 10:30 but the traffic was so insanely bad near the exit ramp we didn't get there until almost 12:30. When we finally found a board that had the performance times listed, we found out that we missed Sugarcult!!!!!!!! It would have been the third time Caitlin and I saw them, so it's not like it was the end of the world, but they're one of my faves. Then we were looking for a program and saw a lil sign that said Yellowcard would be signing autographs at 1:30. So we missed Taking Back Sunday to stand in the mile-long line (which I didn't really care about anyway, they're depressing), and we met Yellowcard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't realize until I had walked out of the tent that I was holding my breath the whole time. And Ryan laughed at Caitlin b/c her face was stuck in a weird smile. It was awesome!
The next show we wanted to catch was Coheed and Cambria at 3, but we wanted to get food first. The shortest line was for gyros, and when we finally got to the front of the line they were out of chicken and lettuce, so we had to get an original gyro or nothing. I wasn't too sure about lamb, so I split one with Cait, but it was really good. I talked to Bieniek for a few minutes, he said he met Cyrus from NFG and got his autograph. He always gets cool things from concerts! Anywho, by the time we got to the stage Coheed and Cambria were almost done. We got to see Claudio's huge hair, but we missed "A Favor House Atlantic." :( Then Yellowcard was right after them. They were awesome as usual. The last song they played was "Ocean Avenue" and I wanted to sing but I seriously felt nauseous b/c that was the only song a lot of people knew... Then we tried to watch New Found Glory but we were too far back to hear anything.
After that we shopped for a while. We made pins at a booth for $1...mine was a picture of the lead singer of Modest Mouse (they weren't there but I think he's funny, and I don't know his name so we called him Gary, b/c he looks like a Gary), Caitlin's was a pic of Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria, looking very scary, and Shannon made one that said "I heart Rory."
I bought 2 shirts, a Warped Tour one and a Sugarcult one. I also bought Rock Against Buch vol. 2 (Shannon got volume 1 and we're gonna make copies for each other), and I bought 3 CD's for $5. I haven't listened to them but they don't look very good. The guy was holding up a sign that said AFI, Thrice, Jimmy Eat World, and some other good bands were on these CD's, but the only bands I even recognize are Thrice and Mustard Plug. Can we say FALSE ADVERTISING?! But they were only $5, so I guess I can't complain too much. Then we went to the Volcom tent to peruse their wares, and Cait saw a sign that said Sugarcult would be signing at 4:30. At that point it was almost 5:00, so we were freaking out, trying to figure out where they were. Then I realized that we were like 10 feet away from them. So we got in line and got to meet Sugarcult too! Kenny wasn't there, but we had Tim, Airin and Marko sign our programs. Tim was watching the band that was playing behind us and barely even glanced at me (HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING, see if I marry him now!), but Airin and Marko were really nice, they smiled and said "Hi" and made eye contact..so I have a lot more respect for them now, and less for Tim.
We checked the board again and figured that we had to go to the Teal stage, then Brian stage, and then back to Teal. We were waiting for the 6:30 show at Teal, which I was convinced was Story of the Year, and some girls started screaming, and we realized it was Good Charlotte (cough...SELLOUTS...cough). I remember when Cait and I saw them 2 years ago. At that time I only knew one song by them, but they were so good that I went out and bought both of their CD's. Well, they were still good but it wasn't quite the same. And they didn't play "Festival Song," which was disappointing. Anywho, then we went to see what I said must be Story of the Year, but turned out to be Flogging Molly. THEY WERE AWESOME!!! The only song I knew was "Drunken Lullabies," but I loved everything. their music just makes you want to dance! As soon as they started, a bunch of guys formed one of those crazy circles right next to us. Shannon got kicked a couple of times, but I'd say they put on the best show. It was a good time.
Then we finally saw Story of the Year for real, and theu were really good as usual. But when they started to play the last song, some guy stumbled out from the front and like passed out on the ground. A couple of hid friends went and got the paramedics while 2 more stayed with him. I'm guessing he was moshing or crowdsurfing and somehow hurt his head b/c he kept holding on to his head and writhing all over the place. It was kinda scary, I couldn't enjoy the last song until the paramedics came b/c this guy was hurt like 5 feet away from me. But I think he was OK, he got up and walked.
Overall it was a very fun day though, I'll definitely be going next year.

ruff

So I went to the Bamboo Club on Tuesday with Shannon for lunch. We got lettuce wraps as an appetizer, and I got a yummy Berry Martini. We both got Vietnamese duck w/ Asian dipping sauce and Lotus Bread, and it was really good! I had never had duck before, and I liked it. Then I came home, ate, went to class, and then I picked Caitlin and Liz up from Target. Lizard spent the night, and in the morning we went to see The Princess Diaries 2. It was really cute, except for when Raven sang. What the hell?! OOH and I got a coupon for a free movie ticket!! YAY
Anywho, then I took Liz home, and Cait and Connor went to the dentist. While they were gone I went to Panera and rolled $40 worth of coins. 40 bucks! Then I went to work, fun stuff. This morning I went to the golf course, yada yada yada, watched Days of Our Lives, took a nap, went to class, the usual. Oh and my teacher was funny today:
Prof. Johns: "History is very frustrating. A lot of historians are alcoholics. That's why I started wearing make-up, so the students couldn't see how hungover I was."
I found that quite entertaining. Now I must go to bed though, I have to get up super early...yuck

Monday, Monday...

So last night after work I went and saw Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle with Shannon, and it was HILARIOUS!!! Probably the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. I laughed so hard I cried! There were tears! Christie and her boyfriend were in line ahead of us, so we sat by them. Then when I was walking out of the concession line, I saw Jennelle! I hadn't seen her in forever. I couldn't talk for long though, because the movie was about to start. I should call her, we didn't have much time to catch up. After the movie Shannon and I decided to go to the Bamboo Club for lunch Tuesday (I think that's the name of it, it's in Fountain Walk). Everytime we walk by there it just smells so good, so that's the plan for tomorrow.
I've been wanting to go to the zoo and the DIA, but I have to work every day this week except Tuesday and Thursday, when I have class. And I would go to the DIA Thursday before class, but there's a tournament at the golf course I really should work at. Hopefully I'll be able to fit it in next week. Next week is my last week of work, YAY!! THis summer has just flown by, I can't believe it.
I was talking to Kaytee yesterday, and she already has our room booked for the Oscars next year. But this time we're only going for 5 or 6 days, so I don't have to worry about missing any exams. Plus it will be much cheaper!! We'll all be 21 this time, so it should be even more fun! Plus she's been talking to Chasta a lot, trying to get us hooked up. Should be a good time... And I was looking at grad schools out there, there's a good one at Cal State right in LA, but they require a lot of Chemistry, which I don't have. I guess I could take a few Chem classes there and then apply for grad school. I didn't look at what tuition was but I hear it's a lot more reasonable than Michigan. Yes, sounds like a plan to me.

Bob the Builder?!

Take the quiz: "Which famous actress are you?"

Britney Spears
Life is a dancer and I am its belly button. I'm Britney Spears!
Ummm...excuse me? NOT AN ACTRESS

Take the quiz: "Which beverage are you?"

Sprite
EW I HATE SPRITE!!!

Take the quiz: "what disney villan are you"

bob the builder

THis is a really horrible quiz, I just thought it was funny that they think Bob the Builder is a villain. None of the other results were villains either...

LOL on another note, I had a horrible dream this morning. I got up this morning to go to the golf course (I'm not telliing the dream yet), and my neck still hurt so I didn't go. But my car was parked behind my mom's and she had to go to work, so I parked it in the street. I thought I heard an alarm going off at the Cambridge Center, but it was really quiet (and therefore useless--who wants an alarm that nobody can hear?). Anywho, I didn't see any hooligans running out of the building or anything, so I came inside and went back to bed. But apparently I was worried that there really were delinquents afoot, b/c I had a dream that someone smashed my car window and stole all my CD's. I only had my car visor and one case of CD's in there, but they were my best ones. I would be so pissed if someone stole them, but the thief would be too b/c more than half of them are burned. I do have a lot of Fleetwood Mac ones in there though, I'm not even sure how many. At least 10, and some were hard to find, so I would be mad about those, but other than that there aren't many original copies.

So one of them gets a book to look up information about pandas. He opens the book to read to the other people and recites,"The panda is a large mammal from Asia with black and white fur. Eats shoots and leaves." HAHA and then there's this classic:"A baby seal walks into a club." Oh that's sick! Yet so funny...Oh and this one too: A man was sitting at the bar in a watering hole whose selling point was that it was on top of the largest skyscraper in town. Another man walks in and asks the bartender for a Jack Daniel's. He downs it, and then takes a running leap out the window. Much to everybody's surprise, he floats back up and climbs through the window back into the bar. The man at the bar is amazed and asks the man how he did it.
"Easy," says the man. "Outside this window are some very strong wind currents which can carry you back to the window."
"Wow," says the man at the bar. "I gotta try this." He takes a running leap out the window and falls to a horrible, bloody, and flat death.
"Geez, Superman," says the bartender. "You can be a real a jerk when you're drunk." LOL

Chi-town

Tunes:"American Girl" by Tom Petty

So this past weekend was Summer Outing in Chicago, and as usual it was tons o' fun. We didn't leave until Sunday afternoon, so we didn't have time to go shopping in the city...which was actually a good thing, considering I would just spend money I don't have. And also since I bought my beautiful purse on the way to Dana's. I stopped at the Coach store at Briarwood, and the lady said that was the last day to buy them b/c they were sending what they had left to Miami the next day. So it's a good thing I stopped on the way there! Anywho, I got to Dana's around 3:30, then we left to pick Evan up...it took us like 5 hours to get there b/c of traffic in Indiana. So we ate dinner at Wendy's and waited for everyone else to get back from the Cheesecake Factory. It was a fun night, Dana and I got a fifth of Bacardi and drank most of it ourselves (maybe a little too much fun), and we hung out with Evan, Becket ( who had to leave at 3 in the morning to get to work in Lansing), BethAnn, Brendan, Christian, Jeff, Smitty, Chris, Bru, Natalie, some Wisconsin boys and other people I don't remember right now.
Then Monday we went to the club and just hung out at the pool. Dana and I were going to go golfing but we got there too late for 18 holes and just couldn't get our asses motivated enough to play 9. The banquet was at 6, it was boring as usual but they had good food. Almost everyone left Monday night except the Dana, Evan, Baller, Sara, Ken and Nicole. Baller and Sara came down to our room for a few minutes, but we went to bed pretty early, then left Tuesday morning. But it was a good time. I guess that's it, I have to go to work soon :(
~Peace~
